1st generation farm

Tamarak Mango Estate is a first generation farm, started in 2005 by co-owners Bernie van den Heever and Dirk Visser. Bernie gained extensive experience in the field of mango cultivation from 1997 - 2004 and planted the first mango trees on Tamarak in 2005 on virgin soil. New trees have been planted every year since.

Healthy climate

The climate of Clanwilliam and the surrounding Cederberg area is excellent for mango cultivation. Hot, dry summers inhibit pest infestations and allow us to grow healthy fruit. Shade netting, which covers 50% plus of the trees, protects fruit from sun damage during the hottest months of the year.

LARGEST WESTERN CAPE MANGO FARM

At present 54 ha of mango trees are in production, with another 12 hectares of young trees expecting to come into production in the next few years. This makes Tamarak Mango Estate the largest mango farm in the Western Cape.
